Work by Maria Prymachenko, courtesy of the Prymachenko Family Foundation
We invite you to explore the exhibition of iconic Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko. The watercolours presented from 1982 to 1994 come from the private collection of Eduard Dymszyć. Prymachenko depicted the relationship between humans and nature in her work, drawing from the folk traditions of Polesia, rich in symbols and metaphors. She painted people, animals, and plants in their everyday surroundings. Her images of the world, built on observation of everyday life in the swamps, undergo a magical transformation – they do not so much portray reality as they try to support it.
